During National Donate Life Month we join communities across America to honor the generosity of organ and tissue donors and their families, and to bring attention to the life-giving gift of organ, eye and tissue donation.

Join the campaign and help us reach our goal of inspiring 25,000 people in Illinois and northwest Indiana to “Say Yes!” to donation and register their decision in April.

• Throughout the month, Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network and hundreds of advocates including hospitals, coroners, funeral directors, ambassadors and partners throughout Illinois and northwest Indiana are encouraging everyone to “Say Yes!” to donation.
• Local events will celebrate organ & tissue donors and educate communities about the critical need for donor registrations. Many communities, municipalities and businesses will also “Light It Up Purple” in public displays of support for organ and tissue donation. 95% of people support donation but fewer than 60% are registered donors.

• Organ, eye and tissue donation is an act of compassion, offering the gift of life and healing to people in need. It provides families of organ and tissue donors with something positive amid loss, knowing their loved one saved or healed someone’s life with their gift of donation.
• A single person could save up to eight lives as an organ donor, heal more than 25 people in need of skin grafts, bone or tendon grafts or other donated tissue, and help restore sight for two people.

We strongly encourage everyone who has not registered as a donor to learn about donation, register as a donor, and talk with their family about their decision.
