Director of Authorization

Eric Price oversees the organ and tissue donor authorization process throughout Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. His role is key in achieving operational excellence and regulatory compliance. Price provides leadership to the Donation Specialists team as they engage with hospitals, families, social workers, chaplains, physicians and nurses to facilitate successful organ and tissue donation and build collaborative relationships.

Price has worked with Gift of Hope for more than 11 years, serving in roles as a Hospital & Partner Relations liaison, donation specialist, pediatric donation specialist and manager of the Donation Specialists department before being named director. Previous roles included managerial positions at Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago and UChicago Medicine.

Leveraging his expertise in ethics, counseling and social work, Price has presented nationally to audiences including organ procurement professionals, hospital staff, clinicians and social workers.

Price holds a master of divinity degree from The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago with specializations in ethics and counseling, and a bachelor’s degree in ethics, philosophy, religion and political science from Carthage College, Kenosha, Wis. Price is a board-certified chaplain (BCC) and ordained minister (DM). He is certified in comprehensive crisis management (CCM), as a medicolegal death investigator (CMDI) and as a critical incident response trainer (CIR).
