Michael Harmon, RN
Vice President, Organ Operations

Michael Harmon directs all aspects of Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network’s organ recovery operations, including organ procurement, allocation, perfusion, telepathology, clinical training and transportation services. In his leadership role, Harmon manages the daily activity of all organ recovery services clinical staff. He also develops and implements clinical policies, procedures and protocols for all aspects of the organ donation process. Harmon participates in strategic planning for the future growth of the organization’s operations.

Harmon began his career at Gift of Hope in 1997 as an organ recovery coordinator and was named to increasingly responsible positions before assuming his current leadership role. He previously worked as a staff nurse in the neurological intensive care unit at Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary, Ind.

Harmon earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Valparaiso University. He holds a certificate in donation and transplantation leadership from the Gift of Life Institute presented in collaboration with the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and the Fox School of Business at Temple University.
