There are nearly 113,000 people across the United States currently waiting for lifesaving and life enhancing organ and tissue transplants, and another person is added to the list every 10 minutes. Although many people will receive the good news that a compatible organ has been found for them, 22 people will die each day waiting — that’s more than 8,000 deaths a year. These are stories of those who have died waiting and those who are still waiting to receive the gift of life.
