Our Leadership Team

Our Leadership Team operates under the direction of Harry Wilkins, MD, President/CEO, our Board of Directors, and our Advisory Council. Our leadership team establishes the organization’s strategic direction and guides a clinical, operations, and administrative staff of nearly 300 people in conducting our day-to-day business and clinical activities, all of which seek to save and enhance people’s lives through donation.

Harry Wilkins, MD
Harry Wilkins, MDPresident/CEO

Harry Wilkins, MD is President/CEO of Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In that role, he provides overall leadership for the organization, guides its strategic direction and ensures that the organization stays true to its mission — to save and enhance the lives of as many people as possible through organ and tissue donation. Before joining Gift of Hope in October 2020, Dr. Wilkins served as Attending Acute Care Surgeon for Quincy Medical Group. Dr. Wilking holds a Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and a Master’s in Healthcare Management from Harvard.

Dave Bosch

Dave Bosch is Chief Marketing Officer & Chief Communications Officer for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In his role, Dave is responsible for the marketing and communications functions for the organization. Dave re-joins Gift of Hope after leading Eversight Vision. Prior to leading Eversight Dave spent 18 years with Gift of Hope.  Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science from Lewis University.

Martin Jendrisak, MD, FACS, is Medical Director and Vice President of Research and Development of Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. As Medical Director, he provides medical oversight of all organ and tissue recovery operations for Gift of Hope. In his R&D role, Dr. Jendrisak oversees Gift of Hope’s research activities, including lab testing innovations and donor management enhancements, and he fosters research collaboration with universities, transplant programs and fellowship programs. Before joining Gift of Hope in 2010, Dr. Jendrisak was the Surgical Director of the kidney transplant program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the Associate Medical Director at Mid-America Transplant Association for more than 15 years, and also served on their Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Committee. He is a member of the United Network for Organ Sharing’s (UNOS) OPO committee, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and St. Louis Surgical Society among several others. Dr. Jendrisak’s work has lead to active programs in blood group incompatible transplantation, desensitization of allo-sensitized patients, paired kidney exchange and post-transplant immune monitoring. He co-developed the “mini-nephrectomy,” a minimally invasive open live donor nephrectomy to reduce living donor operative morbidity. In addition, he implemented and directed the altruistic living donor program in collaboration with Missouri’s OPO, Mid-America Transplant Services. Dr. Jendrisak completed his fellowship in transplantation and his residency at Washington University School of Medicine/Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He holds his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio.
Jack Lynch

Jack Lynch is the Senior Advisor for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In this role, Jack will continue to strengthen relationships with leaders in the communities throughout the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue donor network service area. He is also leading the efforts on the development of the Gift of Hope training center on Chicago’s southside. Prior to becoming the Senior Advisor, Jack served as Director of Community Affairs. In this role, Jack was responsible for developing and maintaining communications that promote organ and tissue donation within selected community groups and hospitals. He also oversaw Gift of Hope’s African-American Task Force, composed of more than 100 volunteers who coordinate donor education programs in the African-American communities throughout Illinois and northwest Indiana. Before joining Gift of Hope in 1987, then known as the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois, Jack was a manager of hospital development for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals in Hanover, N.J. Recognized as a leader in addressing organ donation and education in the African-American community, Jack was appointed by former Illinois Gov. George Ryan to serve as chairman of the Illinois Department of Public Health Organ Donation Committee in 1993. He carried out this role until 2003 and currently serves on Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White’s Organ Donation Advisory Board. A member of numerous healthcare and donation-related organizations, he is a guest instructor at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, the University of Illinois School of Public Health in Chicago and the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago. In addition to speaking at numerous hospitals and organ transplant programs across the country, Jack has been frequently interviewed on minority organ and tissue donation for local, regional and national media. After attending Chicago city colleges and Chicago State University, Jack went on to participate in the master med program at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.
Lori Malatesta

Lori Malatesta is Chief Administration Officer for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In her role, Lori focuses on establishing a leadership development plan, attracting and developing the best talent and building a culture characterized by passionate people, outstanding teams and compassionate service. With more than 25 years of human resource leadership, Lori specializes in change management, training, succession planning and organizational development. Before joining Gift of Hope, Lori provided strategic HR leadership to large, best-in-class companies such as Honeywell International, AMDOCS, Market Day Corporation and Commonwealth Edison. Most recently, she served as the Chief Human Resources Officer at KI Industries, where she developed and led strategic HR initiatives, including the implementation of goal alignment, talent calibration, development planning and performance management processes. A certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, Lori is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Human Resource Management Association of Chicago. Lori holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Ross Raspopovich, MBA, CPA

Ross Raspopovich is Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In his role, Ross is responsible for the financial viability, budgeting, audit oversight, business insurance, treasury, tax, credit, investments, accounts receivable, accounts payable and all accounting functions for the organization. In addition, he is responsible for identifying new business opportunities that complement the organization’s existing services and support its mission, and executing plans to bring those new businesses to life. Before joining Gift of Hope in 1999, then known as the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois, Ross was director of finance for York Behavioral Health Care, L.L.C., at Managed Care Resources Management Group in Burr Ridge, Ill. His more than 20 years of accounting and finance experience also includes positions at Aon Corporation in Chicago. Ross holds a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana University in Gary and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Illinois State University.

Kathleen Abhalter

Kathleen Abhalter is the Vice President of Hospital & Partner Development.  In her role, Kathleen manages Hospital Development staff and the operations surrounding organ and tissue donation at hospitals in Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network’s service area as well as oversees donation related activities with key external stakeholders.  Before assuming her current role at Gift of Hope, Kathleen held several increasingly responsible positions in Hospital Development for the organization.  Prior to joining Gift of Hope in 2003, Kathleen worked as a health care consultant for Verispan and The Martec Group.  Kathleen holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Management and Business Administration from University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Edward Marchewka, MS, MBA, CISSP, PMP, CMQ/OE

Edward Marchewka is the Vice President of IT and Quality Services, & Strategic Planning for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In his role, Edward is responsible providing leadership and overseeing Information & Technology Services, Quality & Compliance, Process Improvement, Data & Reporting, Education & Training, and Strategic Planning; responsible for directing the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of 24/7/365 business operations; directs and leads the planning, development and evaluation of quality improvement and employee safety, ensuring adherence with regulatory/compliance standards; oversees all leadership in data analytics, data science and data driven organizational leadership; aligns training and learning experiences for internal and external customers that enable achievement of our business strategies; designs and develops new and existing business models to ensure alignment of finance, operations, administration and other disciplines to achieve breakthrough results.
Serves as the Quality Officer and HIPAA Security and Privacy Officer.

Before joining Gift of Hope, Edward was the Enterprise Information Security and Server Operations Manager (CISO) for Chicago Public Schools, the third largest school district in the country. Additionally, his IT background includes experiences ranging from running his own business to performing field service to serving a Fortune 250 company, Thermo Fisher Scientific. Edward holds active certifications from (ISC)2, ITIL, PCI, Microsoft and CompTIA; a designation from the National Security Agency; and legacy certifications from Cisco and HP. He is a member of (ISC)2 and the Association of Information Technology Professionals and is President of InfraGard Chicago Members Alliance. Edward also is involved with ChicagoFIRST and the Chicago Electronic Crimes Task Force and is on the governing body for Evanta’s CISO Executive Summit, an annual professional development event for chief information security officers.

Edward holds an MBA and a Master of Science degree in mathematics from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technologies, both from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, N.J. He also holds Certificates in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration at California Southern University.

Evelyn Schultz, CPTC

Evelyn Schultz, CPTC, is Vice President of Internal Operations for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In her role, Evelyn provides hands-on management of Gift of Hope’s four strategic drivers — donor management, organ placement, tissue recovery and donor authorization. She also oversees all phases of the organ and tissue recovery process, including requesting, organ allocation, and surgical recovery and preservation. Her responsibilities also include day-to-day management of all Gift of Hope organ recovery staff and oversight of the pulsatile perfusion laboratory and medical records. Evelyn began as an organ recovery coordinator with Gift of Hope in 1993, then known as the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois. Her subsequent positions have included donor management specialist, team leader, supervisor and manager. Before joining Gift of Hope, Evelyn was a registered respiratory therapist at a Level 1 trauma center for 13 years. A certified procurement transplant coordinator, she is a member of the North American Transplant Coordinators Organization and is a past member of the Pediatric Transplant Committee for the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network/United Network for Organ Sharing. Evelyn holds an associate’s degree in applied science from Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Ill.
Marion Shuck
Marion ShuckVP, Governmental Affairs and External Relations

Marion L. Shuck is VP, Governmental Affairs and External Relations for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In her role, Marion is responsible for creating and deepening relationships between donor families, volunteers and community with a focus on increasing opportunities for organ and tissue donation through education and outreach.  In addition, Marion specializes in building key partnership and strengthening existing relationships with community, business leaders, legislators, hospitals and faith-based organizations. Before joining Gift of Hope in 2009, Marion provided strategic talent acquisition leadership to industry leaders Nielsen, Gentiva and HCR Manor Care.  Her more than 15 years as a human resource professional honed her relationship building skills and created a passion for fostering connections with diverse audiences, partners and stakeholders. Marion’s astute ability to balance the needs and priorities of these stakeholders provides seamless implementation and integration of Gift of Hope’s strategic initiatives. Marion holds a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in Business and Leadership from Kendall College in Chicago.

Michael Harmon, RN, CPTC

Michael Harmon, RN, CPTC, is Director of Organ Recovery Operations for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In his role, Mike manages the strategic and daily activity of all organ recovery services clinical staff. He also develops and implements clinical policies, procedures and protocols for all aspects of the organ donation process. Before assuming his current role at Gift of Hope, Mike held several increasingly responsible positions in organ recovery services for the organization. Mike joined Gift of Hope in 1997, then known as the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois, after serving as a staff nurse in the neurological intensive care unit at The Methodist Hospitals in Gary, Ind. A certified procurement transplant coordinator, he is a member of the North American Transplant Coordinators Organization. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Valparaiso University in Indiana, and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
Sam Ho, PhD

Sam Ho, PhD, is Director of the Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Laboratory for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In his role, Dr. Ho is responsible for the overall supervision of lab activities. In addition, he serves on Gift of Hope’s Advisory Council. Before joining Gift of Hope, he was the Chief Laboratory Officer at the Gift of Life Michigan. He received his PhD from the Baylor University and is an ASHI Certified Histocompatibility Laboratory Director.
Stephen Leite, MBA, CQA

Stephen Leite is Director of Quality and Operational Excellence for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In his role as Director, Mr. Leite is responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the Quality, Medical Records, and Education & Training Departments.

He is a CQA from ASQ and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from NIU and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Indiana Wesleyan University.

Shaun Martin, MBA, CTBS

Shaun Martin is Director of Tissue Recovery Services for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. In his role as Director, Mr. Martin is responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the Tissue Recovery and Donor Resource Departments, which includes planning, developing and implementing procedures and protocols that align with regulatory bodies and executing the organization’s strategic initiatives to ensure an efficient and well-coordinated tissue recovery services operation. Mr. Martin is an affiliate member of the National Association of Medical Examiners and serves on its Organ and Tissue Donation Ad Hoc Committee. He has worked at Gift of Hope since 2002. Before that, he worked in emergency management services as a member of the Chicago Fire Department’s First Aid Care Team. He is a certified tissue bank specialist and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. He also is the father of a tissue transplant recipient.
