Bruce A. King
Elmhurst University

Bruce King’s professional career has been devoted to making a difference in the lives of young people so they can pursue a pathway to opportunities and experiences unknown by previous generations. He also works to create and support inclusive work cultures and has extensive experience in educational leadership.

Mr. King serves as Vice President for Equity and Inclusion at Elmhurst University, Elmhurst, Ill., and was previously Associate Vice Chancellor for Racial Equity­­ at City Colleges of Chicago. Before that, he served for 13 years at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., where held the titles of Vice President for Equity and Inclusion, Assistant to the President and Chief Diversity Officer.

Over his career, Mr. King has worked to improve access and overall campus climate for people of diverse ethnic, racial and religious identities. He has drawn on his experience to support strategic planning and leadership for a wide range of initiatives supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.

Mr. King has been a leader in professional organization such as the Consortium for Faculty Diversity and National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education. He also has been involved with LifeSource, an organ, eye and tissue donation organization based in the Upper Midwest.

Mr. King holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University and a master of social work from The University of Iowa.
